IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19, THE INITIATIVE TEAM HAS MADE THESE CHANGES:
  • Cancellation of in-person Gateway Community Workshops for 2020.
  • Transition to online project idea submission form and feedback.
  • Hosting virtual meetings (at least through 2020).

WHAT WE ASK FROM YOU:
  • Please submit project ideas that reflect long-term desired improvements.
  • Short term impacts of COVID-19 may also change how we think about recreation assets and access. Please use the knowledge you now have to think about what sustainable recreation looks like post-COVID-19.
* A NOTE ABOUT COVID *
So much has changed since we started this effort

Why
Hey Locals - Why Participate?
Eastern Sierra communities are the gateways to some of America's most incredible natural resources and outdoor recreation. For those who live here this can present an array of challenges.

We want to hear your creative ideas for recreation. Share your ideas for GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS, solutions to LOCAL OR REGIONAL recreation problems, or TOTALLY NEW IDEAS to make recreation more sustainable. Filling out the project idea submission form is easy.
What Will Happen to Your Idea?

The Sustainable Recreation & Tourism Initiative (SRTI) team will collect project ideas from across the Eastern Sierra throughout 2020 through the online submission form. We are hosting two VIRTUAL PUBLIC MEETINGS (9/17 & 11/19) to review submitted ideas.

We are committed to providing opportunities for engagement with this effort whether you have project ideas to share, want to review submissions, or both.

*Please note that some project ideas may be combined with other ideas that are similar. This is a necessary part of the process for three reasons:
  • It makes reviewing projects more manageable for the community, the SRTI team, and the Eastern Sierra Sustainable Recreation Partnership (ESSRP).

  • One idea might apply to sustainable recreation across the region. For example: if a project idea suggests signage at a specific location and another project idea recommends signage and programming nearby we would want to think about that entire area for additional signage and program needs.

  • In 2021 when we begin working with the ESSRP to identify funding, having similar projects identified will help make a stronger case for funding sources.

MAKE SURE WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO YOU GETS HEARD
